PGE Energia Odnawialna S.A. commences the delivery of one of the largest projects in the renewable energy sector
The general investor of the new power plant is PGE Energia Odnawialna S.A., a company of the PGE Capital Group, managing development of the renewable energy sources (RES)-based projects.
The contract award winner in the contract award procedure for wind turbines is the Alstom company. The contract signed with the awarded Contractor covers supply, assembly and commissioning of 30 Alstom ECO110 power plants of 3W capacity each. Each turbine is equipped in a rotor of 110 m diameter and 90 m high steel tower. Commissioning of the wind farm is scheduled for 4Q 2015.
Gala inauguration of the Lotnisko wind farm construction was held on 10 September, 2014 in Kopaniewo, Wicko Commune (Lębork Poviat). Digging in with the symbolic first shovel was performer by the guests of honour attending the event: Marek Woszczyk, President of the Management Board of PGE Polska Grupa Energetyczna, Maciej Górski, President of the Management Board of PGE Energia Odnawialna, Lesław Kuzaj, President of Alstom Polska and Mirosław Kowalik, Sales and Marketing Director of Thermal Power and Renewable sectors. The inauguration was also attended by the local government representatives.
The Lotnisko wind farm is the largest RES-based investment delivered under the PGE CG strategy adopted in May 2014 and envisaging acquisition of the total of at least 234 MW new capacity in wind power plants in 2014 – 2016. As of today, the PGE Group has been already one of the segment leaders with more than 300 MW capacity in wind energy.
The PGE CG has been currently in the course of delivery of an ambitious investment program, which will significantly reduce the enterprise’s impact on the environment. Apart from the RES investments, the Company intends to disburse as much as PLN 16.3 billion in modernization of the operating production assets. The investments planned in the PGE Group by 2016 will contribute to reduction of sulfur dioxide emission by app. 60%, nitrogen oxides by 40% and PMs by more than 50%. It should be emphasized that these reduction values are complementary to the current ones. Within the last years, the PGE CG power plants have already reduced SO2 emission by 80%, NOX emission by 40% and PMs emission by 97%.
